Using spices to enhance your health and well-being while delighting your taste buds
Thank you for investing your time in your health. The world is full of people suffering from chronic health problems. There are many ways to prevent, improve, or even cure them. Spices are a fun but powerful way to bring more joy to your kitchen and your body.
Always remember that prevention is much easier than correction when it comes to diseases. A healthy life begins with at least 5 essential habits that we can develop, but no "medicine," whether natural or not, can cure a body that doesn’t follow these essential self-care habits. Consider asking a friend or family member to join you in practicing them while you explore your new, healthier lifestyle. The 5 habits are:
- You must prioritize quality sleep every night: Seek advice on sleep hygiene online for more information. There’s nothing that affects your health more than this.
- Research shows that people who sleep an average of 6 hours or less, compared to those who sleep 7 or 8 hours, have more body fat, less muscle, higher glucose, higher blood pressure, and higher cholesterol and triglycerides.
- You must drink water: There are many free apps that can tell you how often and how much water you drink, and how to know if you're properly hydrated.
- It’s important to drink water first thing in the morning (before your coffee) and throughout the day.
- A sign that you're well-hydrated is that you urinate every 2-3 hours during the day. You can stop drinking an hour before bed to avoid disrupting your sleep quality.
- You must move your body: At least 20 minutes of movement where you feel your heart rate increase and your breathing change every day.
- Scientific studies say that 150 minutes per week is the minimum to maintain a healthy body.
- It’s important for your heart rate and breathing to rise every day. This allows oxygen to reach your organs and muscles, helps balance your glucose and hormones, keeps your bones strong, and detoxifies your blood.
- Eat at least 1 green and 3 other colored vegetables every day (white ones don't count). This will provide your body with a variety of nutrients to help build healthy cells. a. It’s crucial to nourish your body, not just fill your stomach. Food is the only way the body receives MACRO and MICRO-NUTRIENTS.
- The different colors in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and leaves represent many different proteins, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fats, and nutrients that are critical to keeping your body healthy and supporting it when it needs to heal.
- For example, orange fruits and vegetables like carrots, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin are rich in vitamin A, beta-carotene, vitamin K, copper, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, and manganese.
- Red fruits and vegetables like beets, radishes, and tomatoes are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, B1, B3, and B9 vitamins, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, potassium, and zinc.
- Green vegetables like broccoli, spinach, arugula, and cabbage are rich in essential nutrients like vitamins C and K. Broccoli strengthens bones, boosts the immune system, and promotes healthy skin. Its fiber content also aids digestion, and it contains omega-3 fatty acids and amino acids.
- There are many more colors like yellow, purple, and others, including beans (white, black, red, chickpeas, lentils), bell peppers, cucumbers, watermelon, mangoes, strawberries, bananas, papaya, and many more, all of which are beneficial and important to consider in your rotation. Beans and leafy greens are important sources of protein, consisting of 20 amino acids.
- Stress management: There are no modern humans living free of stress, but there are tools to help. 10 minutes of daily silence without screens to meditate, practice breathing, pray, practice gratitude, keep a journal, do yin yoga, or read something motivational and positive. a. It’s important to have various practices to use during stressful moments and also as maintenance during less stressful times to give your mind and body moments of relaxation and peace. This is crucial in healing or recovering from any illness and for prevention.
